John wayne's real name was marion morrison. Why do i mention this in a review of "buffy the vampire slayer, the movie"? simple. Because we can't help forming stereotypes based on a person's name. Would john wayne have achieved the success he did had he retained his original name? i think not, for the simple reason that you would not expect somebody with the effeminate name of "marion" to be a butch, no-nonsense, tough-talking cowboy. To succeed in the movies, marion morrison had to become macho-sounding john wayne. By the same token, it is almost inconceivable that anyone bearing the name "buffy" would be a kick-ass vampire slayer and saviour of the world. With apologies to anybody of that name, "buffy" tends to suggest a vain, vacuous blonde, with a low i. Q. , a passion for shopping and clothes, and more interested in boys, looking pretty, and partying all night than spending more time than is strictly necessary for studying. But that is the point. By burdening his eponymous heroine with the unlikely name of "buffy", writer joss whedon is cleverly cocking a snook at such unjust stereotypes. Reviewers who criticise the film (and later television series) for what they consider to be an incongruous title, are missing the irony.
Knowing that this would be the final episode, joss whedon included many references to previous episodes. These included: andrew: a shout-out to my brother tucker who gave me the inspiration to summon demons tucker summoned hell hounds to attack the prom in the episode the prom. ---- xander: see, i need a new look. It's this whole eye patch thing. Buffy: oh! you could go with the full black secret agent look. Willow: or the puffy shirt, pirate/poet feel. Sensitive yet manly… the last two times we've seen xander in costume were a pirate in all the way and as james bond in fear itself. ---- faith: looks like the hellmouth is officially closed for business. Giles: there is another one in cleveland. We learn of the hellmouth in cleveland in the episode the wish. ---- giles: the earth is definitely doomed. This is almost identical to the final line of the episode the harvest, which was the second part of the very first two-hour episode of the series. ---- two of cassie's predictions in the episode help come true in this episode. - buffy tells spike that she loves him. Cassie told spike "she'll tell you. Someday she'll tell you. " - cassie said to buffy, "and i know that you'll go someplace dark. Underground" this prediction was fulfilled when buffy led faith, spike, and the potentials into the hellmouth. ---- a "welcome to sunnydale" sign gets knocked over for the third time in the show's history, having been also hit in school hard (2x03) and lovers walk (3x08). Spike can be at least partially blamed for all three incidents.
Oct 12, 2019 season 3 of buffy is among the most cohesive of all the seasons and my personal favorite. The addition of faith in this season really adds depth into buffy's character and the metaphor whedon creates with growing up. Faith being a metaphor for buffy's "path-not-chosen" is genius. Additionally, the mayor is one of the best villains of the entire series. Furthermore, senior year of high school is such a pivotal time in adolescence, and that proves no exception here. This season of buffy is about facing the fear of the unknown and allowing the characters to grow as individuals. It ends the tone of the first three seasons and allows for a shift in the series altogether.
Castles and dreams by squeewockle reviews a short one shot that ended up being a bittttt longerrrr than intended. Based around s8, buffy has issues, faith has issues, and andrew, kennedy and willow are fed up with the chosen two's stupidity. Because, obviously, they love each other, right? but they're just too dense to notice. So how about a spell to solve it? because what could possibly go wrong with that idea? yup. :p.
20th century fox television "she was like a good fairy. A scary, veiny, good fairy. "tired with how her life has been going since buffy came to town, cordelia wishes her away in the presence of anya, who at this time is an evil vengeance demon out to make men pay for their ways.
Nicholas brendon, who plays xander, has an identical twin brother (kelly donovan) who they used as a stand in/stunt double for him. There is even an episode in season 5 where both brothers are featured onscreen together (the replacement). David boreanaz, who plays angel, was discovered when he was walking his dogs in l. A.
